Unforgettable Wildlife Safari Encounters
in Hwange National Park…
…and at Mambanje Waterfront

Camera Trap Record — July 2025
Resident Male Leopard
at Mambanje
In July 2025, our ScoutGuard camera traps recorded a handsome male leopard feeding on a kill — within 300 metres of the Mambanje main pavilion area! These leopards are resident here with a home range that includes the Mambanje waterhole. Leopards are shy and secretive carnivores, they’re not easily seen but some lucky guests have caught a glimpse of these illusive cats coming down to drink at dusk. Their confirmed presence at the Waterfront is one of the most exciting signs that this wilderness is genuinely recovering.

Resident Female Leopard & Cub
at Mambanje
Upon downloading the camera trap images it came as a huge surprise to discover that on the same evening, at virtually the same time, a female leopard and her sub-adult cub had also visited and fed on the same carcass wedged in the fork of the tree as the big male leopard. It’s most reassuring to know that a suitable population of prey species have returned to this area to sustain this family of three leopards.
